| About Registering |
| Age is determined by your age on July 23rd, 2004. Age groups may be added
or removed based on the number of competitors. |
| Equipment Requirements |
|
・ Gloves or wristguards
and kneepads are mandatory for all races and field events; lack of these
protectors will disqualify riders from racing events.
・ Helmets are required
for all Muni events, trials, and the 10k Unlimited.
・ Maximum wheel
size is 24” except in the Muni, 700c, and the 10k unlimited events.
・ Crankarm length
must be in accordance with the IUF International Competition Rules, revised
in December 2003, which is different from previous Unicons, as shown below:
For 24” wheels, crank arms may be no
shorter than 125mm (5”).
For 20” wheels, crank arms may be no
shorter than 102mm (4”).
For 16” wheels, crank arms may be no
shorter than 89mm (3.5”)
・Metal-ended pedals, plastic-ended pedals and plastic saddle protectors
are not allowed in the gym unless protected by buffer materials. Black-marking
tires are not allowed in any gym. White tires are recommended but black
tires are allowed if they are non-marking.
・Metal-ended pedals are not allowed on the track unless protected by buffer
materials.
・Buffer materials, which are sponge-like, consisting of neoprene, polyurethane or the equivalent,
must be installed onto saddles and pedals of your unicycles while it is
in the gym. There will be buffer materials available during the convention.
If the saddle or pedals on your unicycle are not suitable for the gymnasium,
you must install the cushioning materials.
・Indoor Shoes You do not need to buy special indoor shoes. Designate an extra pair of clean shoes as your "indoor shoes" and bring them with. Do not wear your indoor shoes outside the gym.

The 700c wheel races are being introduced for the first time as exhibition
events. There will be awards for the winners, but these races will not
be part of the points accumulation for world championships. All requirements
for track unicycles must be met, except for the following:
Wheel size: Between 24.333" and
29.5" in diameter (standard 24” unicycles are not allowed in this
race)
Crankarm length: no restrictions

Age Group for 100m, 400, 800, One-Foot Riding, Wheel-Walking, and Obstacle
Course.
0-8 (16inch), 0-10 (20inch), 11-12 (20inch), 0-13, 14-15, 16-18, 19-29,
30-44, 45-65, 66- |
The distance of Marathon foor 16" and 20", age 10 and under will
be 5 km.
Evenif you compete 5km, please register/check 10k ride Standard. |
| Accommodations |
|
The main accommodations venue is at the National Olympics Memorial Youth Center as described in detail at the Accommodation Page. To apply, please fill out the Provisional Reservation Form available at the bottom of this page. We will confirm your reservation within a week. If you don't receive such a confirmation please contact Mayumi Sakaino at reserve@japanunicyclingassociation.org. The latest information on accommodations may be found at this site.
NYC Accommodation Fee 120000yen/10nights/4 beds/room
We will assign rooms at the official accommodations on a first-come-first-serve
basis. We will recommend other hotels after all rooms at the official accommodations
are assigned. Rooms will only be assigned to overseas registrants until
the end of March.
After April 1, we will begin assigning remaining rooms to Japanese registrants.
In other words, after April 1, rooms will be assigned to overseas and Japanese registrants on the same first-come-first-serve basis.
It is possible to make other arrangements, but it is recommended that both
participants and non-participants stay at this facility, which is on the
same site as where the competitions will be held. If you do wish to stay
at other facilities, and for reserving accommodations before and after
Unicon, please apply by going to the website of Nippon Travel Agency at
http://www.tabiplaza.net./japanhotels/. For groups of 10 or more or for general inquiries for those not staying
at the National Olympics Memorial Youth Center, please contact:

| Sightseeing Tours |
|
1. KYOTO Sightseeing Tour:
Kyoto is the beautiful ancient capital of Japan. A minimum of 30 participants
is required. The tour will be on August 2 and August 3, with an overnight
stay in Kyoto. The details will be announced at http://www.unicon12.com/english/tour1_e.html.
2. Other Sightseeing Tours
Various other sightseeing tours are available. For details see the website
of Nippon Travel Agency at http://www.nta.co.jp/english,
with whom we have a special arrangement for tours for Unicon participants.
When applying, please indicate
that you are a Unicon participant, since if the group is large enough it may be
eligible for a group discount.
Applications to any sightseeing tours should be made by contacting
Japan Tours. For contact information see Accommodations section above.

IMPORTANT: 1. All transfer charges on wire transfers, including those that
the JUA must pay at the receiving end, are to be borne by applicant.
PLEASE ADD 2500 YEN TO YOUR PAYMENT TO COVER TRANSFER CHARGES at the receiving

2. The charge of 2500 yen applies to a single wire transfer transaction
yen, so it makes sense to consolidate group and team payments, which
requires only a single 2500 yen transfer charge per transaction.

actual payment, since it may not be the same as the applicant)
Refund Policy:
Refund requests received prior to April 1, 2004 will be granted in full.Refund
requests received between April 1, 2004 and June 21, 2004 will be granted
50%. Refund requests received on or after June 21, 2004 will not be granted.
All refund requests must specify the desired currency (US dollars, Euros,
Yen, etc.). If the currency is not specified on the form the refund will
be made in Japanese yen. Refunds made in other than Japanese yen will have
the cost of currency exchange deducted. All refunds will be at the current
exchange rate in Tokyo, at the time the refund request is processed.

release form and hand it in at the Registration desk in Japan.
2. If you are under 20 years and have a guardian that will be accomopany
you to Unicon your guardian can sign in your place.
3. If you are under 20 years and will not be accomopanied by a Guardian, please sign have your Guardian sign the form and mail it or fax it to the JUA at the address shown in the Contact Information section. |
