Unicycle Hockey - Schedule Change
|
Unicycle Hockey has a different day and a different venue. The old venue, middle of the racing track, was determined to not work for unicycle hockey. The new venue, Amaging Square, is an indoor facility that is used for in-line hockey. The surface should work well for unicycle hockey and hockey rink size is 36m X 18m. The new date for the hockey tournament (including the final game) will be Tuesday, July 27 from 08:00 to 23:00. This is the same day as the Standard Skill competition. The hockey tournament will be setup to minimize a schedule conflict for those people participating in both Standard Skill and unicycle hockey. Amaging Square is about 60 minutes from the Unicon main site. There will be a bus available to transfer people to Amaging Square. A person can also take the subway (370yen one way) but should have their unicycle in a bag while in the subway. Rolf Sander is the hockey director and he will setup the hockey tournament based on participating teams and schedule conflicts. At this time, there are 100 people signed up for hockey with about 16 teams. Here is the tentative schedule for the hockey tournament: 08:00-08:30 Set up / Warm up 11:00-13:30 Group 2 Games 13:30-14:30 Group 1 & 2 Quarter Finals
14:30-17:00 Group 3 Games 17:00-19:30 Group 4 Games 19:30-20:30 Group 3 & 4 Quarter Finals

The T-shirt design has been finalized. Here is a link

Racing
An electronic timing system is going to be used for the races on the track. In order to have accurate data, all heats and lane assignments will be determined before the race start. Please show up for all track races you have signed up for and if you decide to not race, please let Unicon XII registration or the official know as soon as possible. Heats that are half empty because of people not showing up is not fair to other competitors racing in that heat and waste time.
Badges
Each participant (competitor and non-competitor) will have an ID badge. With almost 1500 people at Unicon XII, there is a need to keep track of the participants. The badge will be needed to get into facilities, events (welcome and farewell party) and transportation (bus to MUni and marathon). Once at those facilities, if the badge is in the way, the competitor does not need to wear it.
Online Registration closes July 9
On July 9 the online registration will close. That is two weeks before the day Unicon XII starts. Any changes that need to be made after that time can be done at Unicon XII. The date was chosen to allow the organizers time to prepare for the start of Unicon XII.
